Piaristenkeller, Zither and Kaiserhüte in Klosterkeller

Piaristenkeller, Zither and Kaiserhüte in Klosterkeller

In Josefstadt, right next to the Piaristenkirche, lies an approximately 300-year-old wine cellar of the Piaristenkloster. Today it is a restaurant, and those who descend the stairs end up in a world of candlelight, old vaults and zither sounds. Viennese cuisine is served, plus a glass of wine.

But the special thing is a small museum in the middle of the restaurant. The Emperor Franz Joseph Hutmuseum displays historical headgear, including hats of the equestrian units of the Imperial and Royal Army and elegant lady hats. And the best part, some of them can even be put on. So the dinner quickly becomes a photo shoot as in the imperial period. A place for everyone who wants to experience Vienna quite nostalgic.
